And if so, what other cheese besides Tete de Moine can you use with it?

Ivx got one.... I dont know what other cheese you could use but it has to be not too hard and not too soft, not crumbly.. I'm not too keen on tete de moine so it would be interesting to know what works. Perhaps an appenzeller?

I thought I knew all cheese related gadgets but had to look this one up!

I have one too. I have to say I have hardly ever used it, possibly on an Appenzeller cheese as well. As well as a Tête de Moines.
Mine seems to imply you can also use it with chocolate , to make chocolate curls.
Presumably well-scrubbed beforehand! Cheesy chocolate, anyone?

I love Tete de Moine but the smell is horrendous. I do love making the pretty cheese flowers though. I'd really like to know what other cheeses I could use it with but all research has drawn a blank.

Thanks for the suggestions though - I will look into those.

Beaufort might be good, it's a very nice creamy/nutty gruyère type of cheese but the problem is you would have to get a good-sized block or wedge and it is really expensive!

@fromagefreak Like you, I’m not keen on the smell but it does improve a little with air. Freshly unwrapped, it’s rather pungent! Appenzeller sounds interesting, I’ll give that a go too

Smelly cheese - have you ever tried baking a whole Vacherin mint d'or? Delicious but my kids nearly keeled over from the smell Grin
