Basically what it says in the title. It's just the four of us, me, DH and our two DC 2 and half and 9months. My sister might join us (16).
Iv always been stuck on what to make Xmas Eve and Christmas day breakfast. Doesn't feel right just making like meatballs and pasta or shreddies😂 were quite festive. Just this I'm stuck with

Breakfast: I'm from Leicestershire so like to have pork pie on Christmas morning, but not all the household likes it so I sneak a piece with my cup of tea. We have croissants and smoked salmon, with buck's fizz (or soft equivalent) made with freshly-squeezed oranges. (Our food processor has a juicing attachment so this doesn't take long.) One is also expected to eat ones stocking tangerine and some chocolate.

Christmas Eve tea we have Treize Desserts, so lunch is a Full English Cooked Breakfast.

Christmas Eve it varies sometimes a low key buffet or takeaway pizza or Chinese or M&S Chinese.
Christmas morning Buck’s Fizz, fresh coffee, cooked breakfast, with pastries and we have a late lunch mid afternoon somewhere between 2-5. It’s just the 4 of us so very chilled.

Xmas eve is my sons birthday - so burgers, or ribs or whatever he asks for.

Xmas morning I like blinis, smoked salmon and horseradish cream. (we don't have starter before our main meal so I have them for breakfast). Kids tend to have porridge made with chocolate from their stocking.

Ah, I thought you just meant breakfast on the 24th. Sorry.

Christmas Eve eve we have a ham and macaroni cheese.

And an extra fybogel.

Christmas messes with my inner workings something terrible.

Christmas Eve is always curry.

For Christmas breakfast, it varies. Usually either something nice on posh toast (mushrooms, avocado etc) or fresh baked cinnamon buns.

I make shepherds' ("shepherds" - geddit? Smile) pie and yule log (usually a chocolate roulde) for Christmas Eve.
Christmas breakfast was usually croissants; when my children were little stockings were opened in bed but under-the-tree presents were after breakfast so they weren't keen on anything too time-consuming.
Made sure they did justice to Christmas lunch too.

This year it's just DP and me so will effectively have the Christmas lunch starter (some sort of luxurious fishy thing/things) at breakfast/brunch time.

Eve: Roast gammon and macaroni cheese. This year I'm doing it as sort of part of an afternoon buffet in an attempt to only cook one meal on Christmas Eve rather than doing lunch and dinner!

Breakfast: Nigella Christmas morning muffins, made day before. Also pastries.

Christmas eve a very simple pasta dish - it's dh's favourite, I don't know why it's now the only thing that will do
Breakfast will be scrambled eggs and croissants - some will have smoked salmon.
Christmas makes me want simple food - easy to prepare is always the priority - it's odd because it isn't usually.

Christmas Eve has been "Platter" for many years now. It can change depending on what we find and how tastes change over the years, and how many people are coming. The list below is the kinds of things we have - we don't have all of these in any 1 year, but a nice selection of items, and enough for the group to enjoy but not loads of any 1 thing - any leftovers will be used up over the coming days. It comes from a combination of supermarket, M&S and local delis. And it also marks the opening of the Christmas cheeseboard. Whatever is opened up on 24th is laid out (nicely - it's the one time we decant from packets to nice plates and bowls) on the table and everyone can help themselves. We found that DD was happy to try out new foods this way as long as there were plenty of things that we knew she would eat - so if there was sweetcorn there, she might try an olive; and if there was Shropshire blue, she might try compte as well. So a mix of some favourites and some special treats (some of which are intended for grown ups but DCs may surprise you!!).

Cooked and cured meats -
naice cooked ham
cured ham - parma, iberico …..
salamis of different types
braseola
proper corned beef
spiced beef
smoked duck

Fish elements:
Cooked prawns
Smoked salmon
hot smoked salmon
squid rings
garlic mussels
salmon mousse terrines (M&S) or similar

Sometimes paté
Sausage rolls or tiger prawns in pastry....maybe 1 box of M&S party food heated up

Dips and sauces:
Hummus
Salsa
Guacamole
Marie Rose (for prawns)
Tapenade

Salad things (all raw):
Cherry tomatoes
Olives (black and green)
carrot sticks
pepper sticks
lettuce
spring onions
pickled onions, capers...
tinned sweetcorn
sugar snap peas

Breadsticks
Flatbreads
Crusty bread sliced
Nice crackers for cheese

Cheese board:
At least 1 hard (cheddar, edam, compte, etc)
At least 1 soft (brie, camembert, caprice des dieux, …)
At least 1 blue (Cashel, stilton, Shropshire)
Quite probably at least 2/3 more across that range, depending on what we get on travels and from local cheesemonger

A nice bottle of wine for adults, and something nice for DCs (DD usually has a J2O as that is what she enjoys - we don't want too much fizzy on 24th to get her to bed).

Christmas morning breakfast.
Freshly squeezed OJ - some years we have the oranges and squeeze them, while others we have been organised enough to buy it on 24th ready squeezed.
Large cafetiere of coffee

Pastries - usually a pack of Jus-Rol croissants or pain au chocolats rolled out, brushed with egg and thrown in the oven - sometimes the M&S frozen pastries which need no work before going in the oven.

I try and make a bowl of fresh fruit, already chopped and put in the fridge, the night before, but I've been known to do it on Christmas morning some years too - apple, berries, peach or nectarine, maybe some orange segments if I feel bothered - put in the middle for people to help themselves.

Some years, we have made bacon or sausage sandwiches and I always have the bacon/sausages in the fridge, but most years the pastries and fruit, and maybe some nice crusty bread we've bought on 24th or part baked rolls thrown in the oven which is hot anyway, are generally plenty.

For Christmas Eve, we're having beef eye fillet, with a red wine jus, with asparagus, beans and baby carrots, along with creamy garlic mash. Then a trio of desserts - chocolate mousse, creme brulee, and a mini lemon meringue tart.

Christmas Day Breakfast is Eggs Royale, with copious glasses of bucks fizz for the adults.

Biddy I had to scroll up and make sure your comment wasn't one I had written last year under a name change. We do exactly the same as you, both Xmas eve and breakfast Xmas morning, right down to the cut up fresh fruit Confused wondering if we are related??!!

Christmas eve dinner varies year by year. Christmas day breakfast is kedgeree, I made it as a one off 20 odd years ago and it is now a "tradition" that DH and DSs can't live without!!

Festa dei sette pesci, my kids always loved seafood. You can just do whichever fish you all like. We tend to do it as a platter as I love raw seafood. But we did once do it as a stew with calamari, mussels, prawns, cod etc in a tomatoey sauce. As for breakfast we like smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on bagels.

Christmas Eve we usually get an Indian takeaway once DD (2.5) is in bed. I’ll be doing lots of food prep for Christmas dinner so won’t fancy cooking!

Usually Christmas morning we have some of those frozen Danish pastries cooked in the oven with orange juice & coffee. Quick and easy, but feels fancy!
