Want to let the boys try making this but haven't a clue what type of oil to use ... or would butter be better? How do you make butter popcorn?

TIA

Sunflower oil best, stick corn into a pan with the oil just covering, stick a lid on and turn up the heat. Never done in butter.

sunflower oil is fine. That is what I use.

Some people use butter instead. Small amount of either in the bottom of the pan with the corn, lid on and wait. Give it a shake here and there when popping.

this is how my mom taught me:
use oil to pop the corn: put enough oil in bottom of a large, covered saucepan to coat a single layer of unpopped kernels. heat it until the first pop, then remove from heat and shake the pan back and forth until popping stops (use oven gloves and keep in covered). Pour melted butter over popped corn and add a little salt. YUM. Might have to make some myself now.

I do popcorn in the microwave now. Just use a pyrex dish with a lid, put about 60g of popcorn in and turn on for between 4 and 5 minutes. No need for hot fat or anything else and you can see it popping too!

I prefer it with salt, so to get the salt to stick I just drizzle some olive oil over it when it's cooked and then sprinkle salt.

Fab and really easy
