It's our local village show soon and one of the categories is "cake made using vegetable". Automatically thought of carrot cake. Then second thought was that I'd rather do something a bit different.

Found a recipe online for a pea cake, which is basically just a regular sponge with frozen peas blitzed up and added. It goes a lovely green shade when baked. Has anyone ever tried this sort of cake and is it nice?

Thinking of whipping up a half batch tomorrow as an experiment. Kids not keen.

Sounds disgusting.
Courgette cake is ok though.

Didn't ask how it sounded, asked how it tasted...

Sounds as if it would taste disgusting.

Is that better?

There's a great Jamie Oliver brownie recipe using chickpeas. ( I know they're a legume but they count as one of your five a day). If you use a food processor you wouldn't know there were chickpeas in them and they are so nice.

I had spinach and yogurt cake which was lovely, should imagine pea would be similar?
