Wedding cake fruit tier

Hi, I'm making my daughter's wedding cake and to make things easier on myself I'm going for a non-stacked version - what I'm calling a "deconstructed" cake! So there will be a fruit cake and two sponge layers, 8", 10" and 11", but arranged on separate cake stands. So far so good!
The fruit cake will not have marzipan and thick white icing, but the sponges will be semi-naked, i.e. be glazed with a thin layer of the mascarpone filling I am using.
The big question is, what shall I glaze the fruit cake with so that it looks like it belongs with the others?! I was wondering about a thin white icing glaze all over, but would really like some feedback on what others think! Especially if you have some other ideas of what might work well!

I'd use a thin layer of white marzipan - its not fully opaque and will look more in tune. And can be done a few days ahead which is a bonus!

I tried one of those semi naked cakes and it’s more difficult than it looks to make it look intentional! Have you done one before?

Personally I think I’d go for three totally different styles rather than try to make the fruit cake match the others. (And I would put marzipan and icing on it, that’s the best bit! Especially if you have some older people coming, a traditional fruit cake would be welcome).

I’d maybe do one cake semi-naked, one with a drip coating (again nice and easy to do, but effective) and the fruit cake properly covered, which also means you can make it well in advance to take the pressure off.

For me the naked cake look is nice when they’re all stacked up with lots of fruit or flowers on them, but as two/three single cakes it could just look a bit unfinished.

In my opinion the fruit cake would look odd if it's got marzipan on it. I Would thing a plain fruit cake with the themed decorations to tie it to the other cakes would look best. E.g. if your having flowers on the cakes then have that on the top or a garland around the cake but match these to the other cakes will work. Because the cakes won't be identical as it fruit/sponge combo go for complementary designs. It'll look odd if two match like twins and the third a sibling, I'd go for all siblings.

Something like these, with three totally different but coordinating designs.

Also when I've done this before I did semi naked as 2 tier floral pretty/On trend cake and then the fruit as a novelty cake reflecting the bride and groom (but that's not to every ones taste)

Some great suggestions - thank you all for your input.
I won't be using marzipan, too Christmassy by association, and no, I haven't done a semi-naked cake before, so that will be challenging! But I have worked with mascarpone (sweetened with a citrus syrup) and I have a scraper so hopefully that will be reasonably straightforward!
You are right I think LoopyLu and RWBag that co-ordinating the look with flowers or fruit will pull it together, and maybe that's enough? If it looks "a bit unfinished", then that's the way it will look, I'm afraid!
I'm currently looking up soft royal icing options, which I could use as a very thin glaze, using golden icing sugar (as suggested by Nigel Slater) and a little lemon juice - I think that could work as an all over glaze...
