I'm watching with interest as I'm definitely not a slow cooker expert, in fact I have only just got one and only cooked one thing in it so far Smile

It was however a 2.8kg gammon and was fully cooked after 6 hours on low with liquid coming half way up the meat (that probably makes a difference) checked with a meat thermometer at that time and it read nearly 86c so definitely cooked, left to cool in the liquid and it wasn't dry.

I'm planning on trying lamb this weekend and will check it after 4 hours (low) but with lamb I will rest it on veg and will only add perhaps a cup of water.

In the end I did 4 hours on high and 2.5 hours on low then turned the slow cooker off and let it cool in the pot. It was superb and by letting it cool down to still warm but not hot in the pot I could lift it out without it breaking up and slice it reasonably well. Will definitely do it this way again.

Going to try either beef or pork next.

I've done lamb shanks for 8 hours on low, I believe it is the same for a leg of lamb.

I always chuck mine on veg with a little stock, wine and cover the lamb with mint sauce
