Pulled pork in slow cooker but not barbecue

I want to put pork in the slow cooker tonight for lunch tomorrow. Planning to serve in buns with apple sauce, stuffing etc. so barbecue flavours don't seem right. What can I cook it with?

Cider and some apple and maybe a tiny bit of star anise?

We cook ours in cider. It has a nice subtle 'sweet' taste.

I found a bbc goodfood recipe which used cider, maple syrup and mustard. Was very yummy!

I used to do one with cider, it was delicious & really easy. I can't remember the recipe now but I'm sure you can google one. It was along the lines of an onion, can of cider, some cider vinegar, Worcester sauce & some spice. Stick it the meat & leave for 8 hours, take the meat out, shred it & put back in to soak up some more of the juice. Might have to make it again soon now you've got me thinking about it.

I just do it in water with an onion, a little salt and black pepper. Take it out once it has cooked and use the water to make proper gravy and then add the meat and shred it. It's great in a hot baguette or nice bread or with potatoes and veggies or even some boiled rice.

Put in a bed of sliced onions, place pork joint on top add half a bottle of ginger beer (Fentimans work well or Crabbies alcoholic ginger beer). Cook for as long as you can - 8 hours or so.

Pork will fall apart and have a subtle gingery taste that is lovely with apple sauce and stuffing.

It was soooo yummy, thank you!

Combined all your ideas and put it on a bed of onions then cooked it in cider with ginger, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, cider vinegar and seasoning.

Lots of brownie points from the DC!
