I’m hoping to make a trifle next Sunday as have some of dhs family coming for dinner.

Would love some of your recipes, I’ve a simple one using sponge fingers, jam, Sherry, jelly with fruit, custard and cream topped with chopped almonds and glacé cherries (retro)

Thanks

Sorry definately no jelly in a traditional trifle - you can put the rest in though 😂

Buy some kind of chocolate cake - a marble one is good. Slice it and line a trifle dish with it. Drizzle over whatever alcohol you like - Tia Maria works well, sometimes I might use Baileys.

Get two cartons of ready made custard and to one of them add a whole load of melted chocolate (milk or dark, whatever your preference)

Pour the vanilla one on the cake first, and then the chocolate one.

Top with a layer of lightly whipped double cream.

On the top, sprinkle some crushed Cadbury's Flake. Or two.

I'm another one to say no jelly. Make a Swiss jam roll ( or buy a good make one - M&S ) Crumble a few Amaretti biscuits in a glass trifle dish, cut up Swiss roll and put in dish. Pour in sherry and leave for awhile to soak in. Add fruit ( raspberries in my house ) Make custard, cool slightly. Put on trifle. When cold put on cream. Decorate with more raspberries and toasted nuts or anything which takes your fancy.

So, it’s cake/biscuit, soaked in sherry, fruit, custard, cream (toppings)? No jelly 🤦🏼‍♀️

This! It has jelly but it’s made with the fruit juice.

Although your retro recipe will be good too.

Am i too late to cut in with Nigellas Boozy trifle. I've made two this week for dinner parties. Custard is easy and divine. Everyone asking for the recipe now!
