How many slices would that make?

What number of eggs would you use? It's about an inch deep?

Or would you use a maderia recipe rather than a sponge?

I haven't done this in a few years as DD is 20 but I need enough cake for about 50!

Does 9 eggs sound right?

9 eggs sounds way too much.

My tin is 14 x 7 and it bakes Mary Berry lemon drizzle cake perfectly (goodfood site).

For 50 portions you’d need to bake a few!

It was 8 eggs & it looks fine Grin

Off to serve it now

9 wouldn't have been too many but i'd have had half a dozen of so fairy cakes too

1lb Butter & 1lb caster sugar creamed together well

add 8 egg, 1 at a time (beaten well) with a dessertspoon of flour with each of the last 4 and beat well

Fold in the rest of 1lb SR flour with a drop of milk to make it more flexible

Into a lined pan 10 inch by 14 was perfect and into an oven (160?) until golden brown then a bit longer at 140 until it springs up when set

HTH

Icing and choc sprinkles
