Sweet and sour chicken with separate sauce

I'm trying to meal prep for the week ahead so that we eat more healthily and one of the recipes on my list is sweet and sour chicken, as it's one of my favourites. However, DDs don't like the sauce so I'm wondering if there's a way to prepare/ cook the ingredients separate to the sauce so that I can add it to mine?
