What does everyone generally cook every night?

I hate cooking, I hate food shopping, I have 2 fussy children.

Generally every week I do shepherds pie and that lasts for 2 days (although it's mince which isn't great for you)

Meatballs/sausages (again not great for you)

Salmon which my children won't eat but I still offer it

Pizza and garlic bread (yep again not great)

Cook in the bag chicken

Our weeknight meals tend to be;
Chilli con carne
Chicken in a sauce (usually mushroom) with veggies
Curry and rice or a naan
Slow cooker meals (lamb / pork / beef) casserole usually
Jacket potato with assorted toppings and salad

We also throw in these sometimes for variety:
Fajitas
Meatballs
Pasta bake
Chicken kievs and chips
Lasagne
Pizza

Weekends tend to be a bit different eg at the moment we might have a bbq and in winter we always have a Sunday roast but don't fancy that so much in warmer weather. To be fair, DS is only 11 months and happy to chomp on what we have so I don't have to contend with fussy children yet!

Agree with PP - there is nothing wrong with mince as part of a balanced diet

What sorts of things do your DC like?

I tend to mix things up by having vague titles that incorporate manny dishes but help with the planning
So
A pasta dish, arabiata, bolognaise, filled pasta, pasta with cherry TOMS, chill8 and crab, tuna pasta bake etc etc
A veggie dish, stuffed mushrooms , veggie chilli, root veg casserole, fritata, stirfry etc
A meat dish, roast, bbq, steaks, cottage pie
A fish dish
A dish with a bread element eg falafel in pittas, quaesidilla, fajitas, pizza etc
A chicken dish

There’s loads of different categories you could use and obviously many dishes slot into multiple categories but it does help to mix things up.

Loving all these ideas. They're 4 and 2, so these are all great options, thank you!

I'm a bit confused by the mince comment too! I buy mine from the butcher though and get them to mince it freshly for me so you know what you're getting!

Agree with Atleast RE a theme
I’m a veggie but just for ideas
A “salad” night, so leaves with beetroot, goats cheese and walnut or lentils with green veg and feta or chickpeas with roasted veg and hallumi... you get the idea.
A pasta dish
A curry dish
A freezer dish
A something quick - stir fry/mushrooms on toast etc Smile
