Novice baker - which butter for biscuits?

If a recipe says softened butter or margarine do I need proper butter? I only have Lurpak Lighter in which has oil in it. Also, I'm assuming salted is fine?

Thank you

If you look on the pack it will tell you if it's suitable for baking - but as margarine contains oil and your recipe says margarine is OK then it should be fine.
And I only ever bake with salted

Please don't use margarine for biscuits. They taste so much better made with proper block butter.

It's a carton of Lurpak, it doesn't say suitable for baking, it's just butter and rapeseed oil.

No, I'm not a fan of margarine, I may wait and get a block of butter.
