Biggest Pork joint ever

Hi
I've 14 for dinner in a few weeks, I've got the biggest pork shoulder joint I've ever seen so it will fill my oven, looking for side suggestions, preferably pre-prep but can be cooked in oven when meat resting,

Dinner booked for a Saturday so sort of swaying away from the traditional roast dinner sides, no -one fussy at all so can try a wide range of things, any suggestions? Thanks

Cauli cheese. Make day before, bung in fridge then bung in oven

We've got 20 coming on Wednesday! I'm also planning pork. I'm going to split it between two slow cookers and leave it on all day just with apple juice poured in too. Then serve with soft floured baps, potato salad, greek salad, bbq sauce and apple sauce. Low key prep, most can be done in advance (potato salad in the morning etc), and can more easily be eaten on laps, as we so not have that big a dining table :)

Also, pulled pork this way goes a lot further than slicing it, for some reason!

pommes anna...you can do individual ones in muffin tins and then they just need reheating on the day

red cabbage can be nice too....also do ahead and just reheat

hasselback potatoes...they look good, I guess you could prep them ahead, and just roast on the day.

Mash, gravy, simple veg or rolls, stuffing, applesauce for everyone to make hot pork rolls. I know what I am getting from the butchers now! Yum!

Love cauli cheese AJP but have it every week, but thank you,
Like the salad lines, potato salad sounds good, and greek one of my favs,
If I make apple sauce in advance does it freeze well?
do you make your own sauces? Smile

I'd do the pork the way Hairy Bikers did on their new show last week majorcan roast pork, with some green beans and almonds, crunchy spiced roast potatoes, maybe some ratatouille kind of thing...

Apple sauce- make ahead and reheat

Garlic and kale stuffing - assemble day before and cook fresh

Green bean casserole - assemble day before, add topping and cook fresh

Peas with pancetta- cook day before, add Parmesan and reheat

Potato dauphinois- cook day before, add extra liquid and reheat

What time are you expecting us? Sounds lovely Smile

I love pork but don't know anyone else who does so I rarely get to have it.

Really want some now!

I like red cabbage with pork ( reheats well so do ahead). Green beans cooked, drained, mustardy vinaigrette chucked on while hot and allowed to go cold.
Pork is rich, so needs a bit if acidity to go with it.
Fried spatzle instead of potatoes.
Green cabbage with caraway seeds and sour cream.
Purple sprouting broccoli or tenderstem stir fried with soy and garlic.
Actually all the Asian greens go well with pork, Pak choi, choi sum, bok choi etc. Jazz them up with chilli, garlic, corriander, chilli
