Soup Maker recipes??

I was given a soupmaker two Christmases ago and I'm trying to force myself to use it. I think I've made about 5 soups in my life prior to this gift but clearly I bragged too much about that.

Before the slow cooker got threw to he back of the cupboard I found the same problems I've found with slow cookers in that there is usually some frying or roasting required beforehand which I don't want to do before using a super gadget that does it all for you. I made some bland veg soups and that's it.

Anyone have any good recipes for something more exciting?

I got one for Christmas too! The first soup I made was truly awful.

Here are a couple of soups I've tried - no exact measurements sorry. I tend to throw stuff in and hope for the best Grin

I tried again with a tomato based veg soup and this time I softened the onions and garlic on the pan before adding and I really upped the amount of seasoning I used and it was delicious.
I added red peppers, courgettes and tomatoes, butternut squash and a handful of orzo pasta and a tin of tomatoes. I added loads of italian mixed dried herbs and some smoked paprika.
I cooked it on the chunky setting and it was perfect.

Today I made carrot and ginger. I softed shallots, garlic and ginger on the pan. Added that to the soup maker with about 5 carrots, a red pepper and a handful of red lentils. I topped up with water and added a veg stock pot. I added garlic salt, pepper and some tumeric.

I cooked this one on the smooth setting and it was amazing. I added some natural yogurt and a sprinkle of coriander to serve.

I'm not sure the soup maker is any easier than cooking soup the usual way but since I have it now I'm going to give it a chance.

I wish mine had a saute setting though as I think this is what makes the real difference in flavour.

That sounds really yum I'm going to copy! I'm not a confident cook so need step by step directions and would never come up with those combinations even though you've just flung stuff in from your cupboards! I'm going to try tomorrow.
