I stated trying to wean my son at 5.5 Months he is now 8 months and still not interested in food if I try spoon feeding him he turns his head away or if he does take any most of it comes back out. I have tried finger foods too but he’s just not interested.

My daughter took to weaning really well does anyone have any experience or tips please

I had one of those. Fortunately my third, so I was able to chill about it.

Is he contented, happy, responsive, hitting milestones? Nappies normal? If so, then...chill. Honestly, don't worry. Offer odds and ends from time to time, but don't be in the least bit bothered however he responds.

Don't bother spoonfeeding purées. Just give him something from your own plate. Eventually he'll be interested/ready, and then you're galloping.

FWIW my boob-monster dc who was utterly uninterested in solids was 11lb (99th centile) at birth, 50th centile at 8m, and back up to 99th centile (height), 95th centile (weight) by 2y, and has stayed there ever since. DH now describes this child as a 'bottomless pit' Grin

Thanks for replying.

Yes he’s generally happy and hitting milestones just no interest in food he just wants his milk I shouldn’t worry as he is my 2nd but my daughter is so fussy and barely eats anything she goes to bed most night not having touched her dinner 😩

How much is he feeding during the day, and is he still feeding and night?

He is still taking 4-5 bottles a day around 6-8 oz but no feeds at night

Mine is still not great and she is 11 months, she is eating some finger foods now and seems to be coming along alot faster now, but at 8 months she was barely interested.

I think it's normal for some babies.

Then I think he is just not ready. I asked because some babies are such milk-monsters that they have no appetite for solids.

DS2 was like that. Acted like we were trying to poison him until he was about 11 months old! 9 yo old and absolutely fine now!

Thanks for all your replies I’ll keep offering stuff but will just chill more if he doesn’t eat any
