Oh ffs! Burnt soup!

Someone gave me a soup maker and I made some today. I could definitely smell something burnt when I took the lid off and the damn thing has a layer of black soup on the base - a little of which has got into the soup when I stirred it . I've poured it our but I think it smells a little burned.

Can it be rescued?

No I don't think so, not if it's burnt through

It's just a little bit of burney on the soup (says she hopefully). Piece of junk!

Does it taste burnt then? If so then nothing will save it.

I've not tried it - just peered into the pot. Maybe I will get DH to try it (and it tell him it got singed)

Isn't there something with a potato you can do?

It'll taste burnt.
I've killed many a soup or stew when I got a new slow cooker with sear.
Bin it, you won't enjoy it.

No, that's when you've put too much stock in it!

Too much salt, I mean.

Burnt is burnt. Can't be rescued. Sometimes you can angle the bottom and get away with it but I suspect this is burnt through. You need to taste it.

Unless... I say it's smoked soup. You never know.
