Devils on horseback

I was reading the pigs in blankets thread and have decided to do devils on horseback as well as PIB with Christmas dinner.
I don't have mango chutney and won't be getting any in the next week......has anyone stuffed their prunes with cranberry sauce and does it work as well?
Thanks in advance

Haven't tried that but blue cheese works really well

Cranberry sauce would be fine I think. Or extra large prunes stuffed with Mimi chipolata and have Devil Pigs on Horseback?

Update: I just used the soft eating dried prunes (which were big) and didn't bother putting anything inside. Wrapped each on half a rasher of smoked streaky bacon from the butcher and secured with a cocktail stick. Cooked them alongside the pigs in blankets, stuffing etc.

A huge hit with absolutely everyone! Those that weren't keen on bacon found it offset by the prune, those that weren't keen on prunes found the opposite. They had a lovely caramelised flavour rather than being too fruity, and went brilliantly with Turkey. A new regular Christmas side dish for our house. I can't recommend them enough!

I make them as part of a high tea sometimes - dead easy, very popular - just like you did - half a rasher round a big prune. I don't even use cocktail sticks, just make sure the join of the bacon is underneath when they're cooking.

And they are gorgeous.
