What to use instead of tinfoil?

Hi! I'm cooking a chicken today and have just noticed I've no tinfoil left! Anybody have any suggestions as to what I could use to cover my chicken instead? Really don't want to leave the house today. Weathers rubbish and I hardly ever have a day where I'm not running about here, there and everywhere!

Would greaseproof paper work the same?

Are you absolutely sure you have no foil? I once used the wrapping of an easter egg to good effect!

Not sure what you actually need the foil for, but greaseproof paper works pretty well.

You can also stick it under the tap and get it wet. Then it will mould (or do I mean mold?) itself around the chicken more easily.

I was thinking greaseproof paper although not sure if it would burn? Thats a great idea tranquility. There's absolutely nothing in my kitchen though!

Are you roasting it? Just don't cover it, I never do.

Have you got another tin you could use upside down to cover it. I sometimes use a deep baking tray or flan tin to at least partially cover it. Or do it uncovered, start on a high heat to crisp the skin, then turn heat down but baste regularly with juices.

I've never used foil when roasting a chicken.

Do you have a casserole dish with a lid? I quite often cook a chicken in one, it doesn't really brown or get crispy skin, but you get lots of juices for gravy.

Going to try greaseproof paper and if it's looking dodgy I'll just take it off and roast it naked! Will report back later!

Bacon. Take it off for last 20 mins to brown the skin.
