Wedges?

Wash potatoes - no need to peel. Cut into wedges.

Put in a plastic bag with a little oil, some salt and pepper and some paprika or mild chilli powder or any other herb or spice of your choice. Seal the top of the bag and scrunch the wedges around in the oil and spices.

Tip onto a baking tray and cook for about 30-40 mins on gas 6.

fabulous - how can I argue with that idea?? Both of you agree so it's a great idea (especially as I don't have to peel) - can't actually believe I didn't think of them myself as I've done them before [duh]

Yup. Do wedges alot. Dont have a deep fat fryer, not about to get one. (Im scared of them ). So, we do 'lazy chips' instead

You could slice them thinly and layer on a baking tray with sliced onion, pour over veg stock and bake.

Or par poil, cut into slices (about the thickness of a pond coin) then lay on baking sheet with olive oil and roast. (I find this an easier and more effective way of making saute potatoes)

Or dice potatoes, sprinkle with - what;'s that really yellow spice - and chop up onion and garlic and roast

You could also slice thinly and butter roasting pan and pour over half cream half milk and roast.

Do you have any onions, cream or cheese?

Cheesey potato fans.

Potato, butter, breadcrumbs and grated cheese.

Preheat the oven to 220°C.
Peel the potatoes and cut thin slices through each potato, almost to the base.
Heat the butter in a roasting pan, add the potatoes, coating with the butter.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40-50 minutes, basting occasionally, until tender inside and crisp and golden on the outside. The cuts will open to form a fan effect.
Mix together the breadcrumbs and cheese, sprinkle over the top of the potatoes and return to the oven for a further 10 minutes.

you can put pretty much anything in a potato gratin, garlic milk and cheese is good, onion cream and cheese, garlic onion and cheese ... you get the picture.

vvv I had a deep fat frier once, I couldn't be arsed to clean it any more so I chucked it
