Am doing a recipe that calls for a 410g tin of lentils but I am going to use dry - any ideas what the equivalent weight of dry lentils would be?

It's a Good Housekeeping recipe - one of their cheap timesaver ones so tinned lentils would be quicker, I guess. I do use tinned chick peas tho.

OK I can give you the definitive answer on this... I work for a company that cans food and we produce tinned lentils... have just checked the specification and we put 115g dry lentils in a 410g can.

So now you know

If it's 115g dry weight, then remainder of weight is water / brine, so 295g water, 1g water =1ml for liquid measure

Thanks @Weedsnseeds1. It makes perfect sense but I wasn't capable of putting 1+1 together :D

witzig61 I cook the dry lentils first, measure the weight, then top up with water... It's normally around 50-70 grams
