Drying Ceps

Has anyone done this successfully? We have found lots of them and other Boletus in the woods this year.

I have a ton from yesterday and probably won't get through them this week so intend to try to dry them.

Have googled it and it looks like hanging near a radiator on strings is the thing to do only the radiators aren't really on, the aga hasn't been going much either yet ... haven't got an airing cupboard.

Any tips?

Food dehydrator. Bought the same day I arrived home with shitloads of mushrooms, arrived the day there was no mushrooms so it's still unpacked in the shed.

Surely if you put you fan oven on it's lowest setting then you can dry your ceps.? I dried some of my walnut harvest like this. (But didn't turn the oven right down ) Blush

or make soup and freeze it?

A bit to late with my answer....
Have look at photos in this article.

Remember that if you want to dry them in the oven - they need to ne spread on a piece of paper!
