Hot sauce

I am on the hunt for the perfect hot sauce. A lot of the hot sauces I've tried are either too vinegary (sour) or too sweet. I've tried Nando's, Tabasco, Cholula, Franks red hot, Encona. I am after a hot sauce that would go well with Indian food.

Insanity Sauce by Dave's Gourmet is neither sour nor sweet and goes beautifully with Indian food. However it really is insanely spicy and I'm not sure what spice level you want. It's the best one.

Wahaca Smoky Chipotle is good for avoiding sour and sweet. Another Wahaca - Searingly Hot Chile De Arbol - might pair even better with Indian but has a slighty more sour taste.

Dunns river.
There a couple of the Ancona that aren't sweet/sour.
Maggi extra hot
Tropical sun
Island
Heera extra hot
Ask in your local kebab shop to sell you a pot of chilli sauce

Thanks for that. Just read the reviews for Dave's and I think it may be too hot for me. I might give it a go and if it's not for me, I can always pass it on to my brother.

I do like chipotle. But I am not sure, it goes with Indian food.

I don't like the flavoured Encona ones or Maggi. Will google the rest. I've never had a kebab in my life!

I personally find Dave's Insanity too hot, but the Temporary Insanity one is perfect

Why don't you just add powdered chilli to Indian food rather than a sauce. We buy ground habanero from seasoned pioneers and put it into a pepper shaker - some day our dcs will hopefully enjoy food as hot as we do but until then this is our best solution yet.

And the other thing that works well is a chilli oil - but some people don't like to eat too much oil.
