Unpacked the shopping delivered today after order on internet, only to find that the 3 packets of 500g minced beef that I thought I had ordered were actually minced lamb, which I don't normally cook. I can freeze some of it, but I need ideas for what to do with it. Meatballs not a good idea as my food processor broke...and DDs don't like aubergine so moussaka not an option. Please help!

Not sure why you need a food processor for meatballs if the lamb is already minced?

Shepherd's pie; lamb burgers; moussaka minus the aubergine.

This next one sounds odd but I saw it in a magazine and is lovely... cook the minced lamb with a jar of curry sauce, meanwhile, cook some rice, then drain and stir into the lamb curry mix.... it really is tasty

You can make meatballs by hand.. I don't have a food processor to make mine with.. Let the dc get their hands dirty and help make then..

Spaghetti bolognese
Shepards pie
Home made burgers
Chilli con carne

Shepherds Pie of course! And bolognese is beautiful made with lamb, especially in a slow cooker.

We have a recipe that we call moussaka but isn't.

500g minced lamb fried and drained (it's very fatty), cook with a tin of tomatoes, some tomato puree, a heap of chopped mushrooms (optional) and a teaspoon or so of ground cinnamon. Simmer for 30 mins or so. At the end stir in a handful of chopped mint or couple of teaspoons of mint sauce and half a block of chopped feta cheese. Serve with toasted pitta bread fingers and green salad. Or couscous/bulgar wheat etc salad.

I made a lovely curry using minced lamb, a little veg and a jar of korma sauce.

You could also just do minced lamb fried, can of baked beans added.

Shepard's pie mix, could freeze that and then just add topping once defrosted.

Doner kebab - you mix it up with various spices and cook in the over for 80mins. Then slice up in pitta with salad. Totally delicious.

We make that doner kebab recipe all the time rubberstamp, I love that Takeaway Secrets book!

Also make thai meatballs with minced lamb, just squash together the mince with onion, garlic, chilli, lemongrass, grated lime zest, salt & pepper and loads of finely chopped fresh coriander, form into little meatballs and fry, nice just on their own with sweet chilli sauce.

I make keema mattar - curried lamb mince with peas. Fry onions/garlic/ginger/chilli, add 2Tbsp of mixed cumin/coriander/garam masala/turmeric (or just use store bought curry powder if it's all too much) and whole cardamom pods, add 500g lamb mince and salt to taste. Break up mince and fry till just sealed. Add 250ml whole milk and simmer until milk almost all absorbed, then add 500ml water and simmer till it's the consistency you want (you can always add more water if you want). Then add as many frozen peas as you like, simmer a few more min, then stir in a big handful chopped coriander.

Serve over rice with a dollop of yoghurt and some spicy pickle. Total comfort food for when you're feeling low.

Pasticco is lovely, similar to moussaka but macaroni instead of aubergine

Mince Pastries
Cook mince with fried onion+ginger-garlic paste, salt, pepper, and a Tablespoon of curry powder. Roll out pastry into squares, put a dollop of mince in the centre and fold into triangles. Bake in hot oven 200 degrees C for 15-30 minutes.

Mince Patties
Make burger shapes with the cooked mince above.
Make balls of seasoned mashed potato, flatten.
Sandwich each mince burger between two potato rounds.
Dip in semolina and shallow fry.

You could add cooked peas to the mince, and /or a pinch of garam masala at the end.
