I have a recipe that calls for vanilla pudding mix. What is this?
(14 Posts)And if its only an American thing is there a UK substitute?
Is it like Angel Delight?
it looks like an angel delight type thing... I consulted google
You can substitute custard powder, afaik.
In Germany pudding is like blamange and comes in packets to be made up with milk.
yes, angel delight type thing, though I have seen it as a blancmange mix too
it looks liek a cross between jelly and angel delight
what's your recipe Virgil? I feel I want some... serious sugar craving
Have a look here, Virgil:

It's a recipe for the cinnamon buns sold at the bakery in Disneyworld. I have foolishly promised the DSs I would try to replicate them. Not sure I fancy paying £5ish for jellyish custardish stuff though!
Ah I could try the DIY one though!
Is it just the powder you need to add to the other ingredients or do you make up the vanilla pudding and add that to the other ingredients?
You make it up and add it. It's basically a soft dough. Not as heavy as doughnuts, not as flaky as Danish, not as light as croissants.
OK. If you Google "homemade vanilla pudding", there are loads of recipes. They look fairly simple to make.
Cinnamon buns with vanilla pudding added sound delicious...
