recipe for diced beef that's not spicy

I'm pg and I've got a very delicate stomach, I'm craving a beef stew type thing or something with gravy but I can't stomach onions, garlic or anything remotely spicy Sad. I'd like to just chuck it in the slow cooker if possible. All the recipes I look at always seem to have at least onions in them.
Any ideas?

Chinese beef stew:

500g stewing beef
3 tbsp rice wine (dry sherry would do)
3 slices ginger
3 tbsp dark soya sauce
50g sugar
300g carrots
1tsp salt

Put beef in pot, cover with water. Add rice wine+ginger and bring to the boil. Skim scum (I don't do this if I can't be bothered so slow cooker probably ok). Simmer 30-40 minutes. Add soy and sugar and simmer 10-15 minutes. Add diced carrots and salt and cook for 20-25 minutes.

(To be honest I'd bung the whole lot in at the same time and just cook ...)

HTH!

What about Beef in Guinness? I made it for the first time the other night and it was a great hit with my boys.

700g diced stewing beef or braising steak
1 tin of Guinness
1 to 1.5 pint of beef stock
2 tablespoons of tomato puree
some seasoned flour to roll the beef in
some oil to fry the beef in
3 carrots - sliced
3 potatoes - bite sized pieces
2 celery stalks, sliced
1 onion - chopped
1 bayleaf

Roll the beef in the seasoned flour, fry in two batches in a cast iron casserole till brown.
Remove and put to one side.
Add a bit more oil if necessary and add onions, celery and carrots, fry for several minutes.
Add the tomato puree and stir through.
Add Guinness and bring to boil, add stock (I added one pint and left the rest in case it cooked a bit dry but didn't need all of it) and boil then add beef and bayleaf.
Boil for a minute or two.
Put casserole in the oven and cook for about 2 and a half hours, checking it after an hour. If it looks a bit too thick add some more of the stock.

It really is delicious, not spicy at all but full of flavour (and of course Guinness is good for you Grin

the beef in guinness was lovely! DH was very very pleased. I just cooked it for about 90 mins on the hob but it was still very good. I might add some mushrooms next time to pad out the veg content. The onion was very strong to my pg nose (it all came out of my pores the next day, a bit overwhelming) so whilst pg, I might see if a leek is less pungent. But thanks figgyroll, think that one might become a firm favourite!
