Cottage Pie

Anyone got any other ideas?

And if anyone has one of those fantastic chilli recipes, you know, the sort you get a parties and think to yourself, 'this is fantastic, much better than my jar variety', I'll have one of those too.

Thanks

Spag Bol mixture used to stuff veg such as peppers or larger courgettes, add some rice to meat sauce to make it go further.
Moussaka, layer with potatoes as well as aubergine to make into a substantial dish.

variation of burgers is Meatballs or Koftas, same principal squish the mince with stuff and shape into large or small balls!

you can put a dod of cheese inside the meatballs and some pesto in with the mince if you are going italiano

for the koftas you can go anyway....middle easterny spices, or more indian, with a good blob of mango chutney in with the mince and onion.

Sure cazzimazzi, though as a concoction I came up with to stretch the mince out further, I don't have exact measurements.....

Fry off beef, then add ground cumin, couple of cloves of minced garlic, medium chopped onion, a couple of fresh tomatoes chopped,1 chopped green bell pepper, salt, pepper and ground coriander and fry until fragrant and veg is softening. Add a tin of drained black beans and cook a further 5 mins or so, the add a large handful of fresh chopped coriander.

Take off the heat and let cool slightly. meanwhile heat some oil in a small pan and fry off some cumin seeds, minced garlic and pinch of chilli powder. Add a tin of crushed tomatoes, season to taste and bring to boil.

fill flour or corn tortillas with the beef and bean mixture, roll them up and line them in a baking tray with deep sides

Pour the tomato sauce over the enchiladas and top with grated mild cheese. Pop in the oven until bubbly and serve with a green salad!

Enjoy :)

I am queen of mince! Although DH rebelled when we had 'mince in the hole' I thought it was very nice.....drop balls of mince, fried onion, breadcrumbs into roasting dish for 10 mins then pour Yorkshire Pudding batter round it and cook for 40 mins or so. Grate cheese on top for last ten mins.

Also, fry mince and onion, add cooked pasta, tin of condensed tomato soup, tin of chopped tomatoes and bung in dish with tortilla chips and cheese on top for 30 mins in oven.

Cheap and cheerful!

Moussaka but with beef mince (layers of Aubergine and Potatoes instead of pasta)?

Enchiladas?

What about good old spaghetti and meatbals? I use Martha Stewart's online recipe (It's Dinner Tonight or Everyday Food) -- it's really easy and always turns out. I bake the meatballs on a tray in the oven rather than frying (out of laziness, not health concerns). The only thing I do differently really is I put more wine in the sauce than she suggests.
