Hi I'm just trying to make all our meals from scratch and I'm looking for new ideas!! Ideally not overly expensive meals that are suitable for a very fussy 2 yr old and a 15month old that eats anything!!

Egg, chips and baked beans

Peel potatoes, and slice into thick chip shapes. Drizzle with olive oil and bake in oven until cooked. Poack a couple of eggs, and serve with baked beans.

pasta with tomato sauce, hide grated veg in the sauce

eggs - no two people in our house like their eggs done the same it seems, but I still feel we're all eating as a family when we have eggs night. and affordable with some home made chips (chop potatoes. put in oven @ 190C with oil for 50 mins) and baked beans.

watching for better more ideas

I am in same situation with gobbling 1 year old and fussy 2 year old so will be watching.
Favourites (though not necessarily eaten by 2 year old)

Omelette (sometimes with brocolli cooked and mashed and added to mixture before cooking) with cheese.
Eggie bread
Spaghetti Bolognese
Spaghetti Carbonara (easy on the bacon for 1 yr old)
Fish cakes
Sweet potato chips (with something else, sometimes just fish fingers lovingly made by Mr Birds Eye)
Salmon with potatos and veg
Pasta Pasta Pasta (with pesto and veg if lazy). Tomato sauce and veg as above.
home made breaded chicken (the 2 year old will eat, miracle!)

Let me know if you want any actual recipes for these!

Pasta with pesto? Would be eaten every day here if allowed! Fish fingers-I checked everything and I can't find any reason not to. Eggy bread/French toast. Baked potatoes. Chicken or fish in own bread crumbs (dip in flour then beaten egg then breadcrumbs then bake or fry-dd loves helping make these and they are the work of moments. Any beeadcrumbs will do but we blitz crusts in the food processor and the dc don't know I've forced them to eat crusts Grin) omelette (not good at fluffy-mine ate are pancakes made from egg!)

Sleep, the secret of the perfect omelette is to melt butter, add beaten egg then keep mixing with a fork until nearly set. you want all the egg to cook at once, so have to keep it moving. then fold (if you like it runny) or flip (if not) and serve. it's dead easy, honest :)

shame my ds1 won't touch omelette, given I do them so well :( he has fried egg sandwich instead, which I pretend is no worse as oil is actually better for you than butter, right?

You should try massacring them like I do! Dmil made a stunner-just perfect and dd rejected it for not being a proper omelette Grin But come and cook me one any time!

What about if you serve it cold & call it fritatta? DD1(2.10) thinks it's fab because it's got potato in!

I've got a list here of some other meals she likes in case it helps?
