Has anyone got a "strips of beef" recipe (like Stroganoff but not Strganoff)

I want to make some sort of dish next weekend involving frying strips of beef and making a sauce - that I can serve with rice or linguine and a salad.

I though of maybe stir-frying strips of rump steak, adding spring onions and garlic, adding a jar of red pesto and a tub of creme fraiche and then stirring through some rocket to wilt.

Any other ideas, people?

PS should have said - it can't be a curry thing, I don't want to do a chinesey stir-fry thing with bean sprouts etc and it can't have peppers in it.

What about beef teriyaki with rice? You can buy bottles of ready made teriyaki sauce or it's simple enough to make your own.

You need equal quantities of soy sauce and mirin (6 tbsp)and sugar to taste (probably 1-2 tsp). Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and stir well. Put it on medium heat and bring to a boil. Turn down the heat to low and simmer for a couple minutes. You can use it as a marinade and then stir fry the beef. If you want to make it in advance just cool the sauce and store in a clean bottle in the refrigerator.

Your idea sounds great. I would definitely do it with peppers and onions as well, and paprika, but if you can't do peppers:

with asparagus and thyme
and in a cream sauce made with white wine and grain mustard over pasta
and in a green peppercorn sauce over pasta
with broccoli (regular or purple sprouting) and a sesame dressing with soy sauce and garlic

DH fries strips of beef up with garlic and onions and then adds a big old glob of philly. Its really yummy with rice or mash and brocolli.

Could do fajitas though you would have to skip peppers.

Just fry until it's slightly crisped in lots of olive oil with chopped chillies and garlic. Serve it over linguine with parmesan with a nice green salad. The garlicy oil lubricates the pasta. We used to eat this with salad instead of pasta when we were on a low-carb diet.

Fry chopped onion. Add strips of beef and garlic. Fry until brown. Add tin of toms, tablespoon of tomato purée. Add seasoning ( rosemary works well).

Stick in oven for about 30mins or longer if want super tender beef. 20 mins before end add red and yellow chopped pepper. Serve with rice or jacket pots.
