Nice place to eat in Chinatown (London)?

We're going to London next week for DP's birthday and would like to go for an early dinner in Chinatown. Does anyone know of a good restaurant? I haven't been there to eat for about 20 years so I don't know anymore! I'd really appreciate any tips, thanks Smile!

Yes - if you want standard Cantonese food that won't frighten the horses but is of a good quality, go to Four Seasons and get the roast duck (not the duck in pancakes). It's on Gerrard Street.

However if you'd like something a bit better go to Lisle Street to Beijing Dumpling - they serve more than just dumplings and it's very good.

If you're after something a bit more authentic and adventurous, try Baozi Inn on Newport Court for cheap and cheerful Sichuan noodles and pork buns, or Leong's Legends (one branch on Lisle Street, one on Macclesfield Street) for Taiwanese and some Sichuan food. If you're no more than 6 people and want to try chinese hotpot, go to Little Lamb on Shaftesbury Avenue (here's a good review if you want to see what that's like!)

And finally if you're after something a bit more expensive and more of a fancy restaurant experience, go to Bar Shu or Ba Shan (both on the corner of Frith Street and Romilly Street).

I think all of these are reviewed in Time Out, Urbanspoon etc so you can check out the reviews for yourself if you want to compare. I've had great meals at all of them (though admittedly I haven't been to Bar Shu for a couple of years).

for dim sum we always go to London Chinatown, 27 Gerrard St and it's brilliant. DO NOT go to Wang Kei (i think ) it is awful and the grumpy waiters ARE NOT entertaining and the food is dull

I like Imperial China - a friend had her 30th there and it was great.

I love the Feng Shui Inn (think it's on Gerrard Street).

We have tried most of the others over the years but this is the one that we always come back to.
