Hi, I have decided to set up a tropical tank, have never had fish before and I have seen a Superfish 70 beginners set that looks good value.

I am going to do a fishless cycle but I have some questions and the Internet is full of conflicting advise!

Which is a good forum to use?

When is the best time to add plants during the cycle?

What do I need to do for the co2 requirements? I don't understand the options at all!

Thanks!

Aquatic Community Forum is good. Practical Fishkeeping Forum. UKAPS Forum if you're interested in a planted tank.

You can add plants immediately. The tank need not be cycled before you add plants. It's actually better to plant the tank up well in advance of adding fish to allow the roots to become established.

CO2 is added in high tech systems. It's perfectly possible to have a lush, fully planted setup without gas CO2 injection. In fact, it's best to start off with a low tech planted setup if you're a beginner. You can always add CO2 later if you're after more demanding plants.
