How long do they take to get to full size?

I have added five new WCMMs to my cold water tank. One died on day one, the others are fine but I am nervous because size-wise Dave the Goldfish could certainly eat them if he wanted to. They are about 1.5 - 2cm long at the moment. How long before they hit the 3cm mark?

My two old fellas seem to be quite happy with the newbies so far which is nice :)

I would guess a few months. They are snack size for goldfish so if you could put in an ornament or something that they can hide around then that will help. Plants will just end up as a snack. If Dave is a fancy goldfish rather than a common shaped one then they will probably be safe because they will out-swim him easily.

Nah he is common as muck Grin although slightly stunted from his early life Sad

There are plenty of plants & rocks, stumps etc. I'm also fairly sure he is blind in one eye so that should even out the odds.

I'm waiting for my minnows to have babies. Although I suspect they might be all boys.
I was tempted to add a goldfish but think I might get more minnows. I need the whole of the round tabke (all named after knights)

Heh heh Grin love the themed names idea!

I just assumed my minnows probably wouldn't breed with Dave around. Or if they did then any eggs would get munched?

Depends, if you have places that the eggs and fry won't be accessible then you might get babies.

Squeeee!!! That would be exciting! Although deuced inconvenient given that I PROMISED DH that I would just stick to this one tank and that it wasn't the beginning of a slippery slope all over again .
