National Treasure suitable for 9 y/o?

Hi, anyone seen National treasure?? I need an opinion about taking my 9 year old to this movie over the half term break. I know it is Disney but it seems to be PG. What does that mean these days? She is already reading Phillip Pullman, and likes Indiana Jones etc. Any advice?

I've seen it and liked it, I think it would be fine for a 9yo, my 7yo ds liked it and wasn't at all scared. It's a grown up Indiana Jones treasure hunt type film, but quite slick and entertaining and good enough that I was happy to sit through it. There is some gore and murder and some slightly scary baddies (Sean Bean) but I reckon most 9yos would be ok with it. There's a slow start but it gets better. If you're going to the cinema explain to her what the Declaration of Independence is first, if she doesn't know, it will help. She should like it I reckon if she likes Indiana Jones. It's Bruckheimer so you know what you're getting! Slick, expensive adventure. Worth seeing.

Ooh ... I haven't heard of this one. I'd written off the cinema this half term because I couldn't face Magic Roundabout or Spongebob Squarepants.

But if there's something with Sean Bean in I may have to reconsider

thanks for replies. We went over the weekend and it was actually quite good. I guess it was quite grown up and would have mad a great deal more sense to an American child I suppose because there is a lot of reference to Us history. DD (9) really enjoyed the adventure side of it, I enjoyed the fact that i had Nicolas Cage to look at and DH was impressed by the exploding helicopter quotient.
Not a bad evening out.

Oh I'm glad you liked it and my review wasn't a misleading pile of shite!
