Magic Roundabout or Racing stripes - anyone seen either?

Took ds1 and ds2 to Magic Roundabout at the weekend with my friend and her two kids. Ages were 7,6,3.5 and 2.5. They all enjoyed it although the 2.5 year old wasn't as riveted as she was during Polar Express.

To be honest , the adults have seen better

Thanks everyone, think we will try Racing stripes. a friend just told me she took her daughters (6& 4)to see Magic roundabout at the weekend and they found it really frightening - apparnetly Zebedee has an evil brother who tries to turn the world to ice and Florence spends most of the film deep frozen? Doesn't sound quite as cosy as the tv prog I remember..

Just been to see Racing Stripes and we all loved it. Very predictable ending, but can't have a sad ending to a funny film. If anyone has boys, they will love the flies .

Another vote for racing stripes-saw it today with ds and friend (yes-they loved the flies) and dd (loves talking animals!) so winner all round really! I liked it because it didnt make rude comments intended to go over the kids heads but was still funny for adults.
DS said "well that was about a 1000 times better than Sharks tale" (which we all hated).

magic roundabout - dh and i thought it was godawful!! dreadful messy plot, awful characterisations apart from Brian the snail. waste of £12. imho of course...

dd (3) seemed to quite enjoy it though, which i spose is the main thing. i think we've been spoilt so far with films like toy story and finding nemo.

Magic Roundabout:

I thought it was a big yawn but 5-yr-old ds loved it. He saw it twice, and wants to see it yet again. (It won't be with me!!!)

Scaredy-cat dd (2.5) was actually NOT afraid of it, and she pretty much sat through the whole thing. So I'd say it's PERFECT for the 5-year-olds and perfectly adequate for kids younger than that.

DSs (5 and 7) loved Racing Stripes today. I must admit it didn't really do it for me, but it was a refreshing change to watch a 'U' certificate film which didn't scare the living daylights out of my 5 yr-old, and I'm sure they'll stop saying "Shut up you idiot!" soon!

Watched Magic Roundabout not that suitable for children under about 5. My twins of 7 thoroughly enjoyed the film . I can't say I enjoyed it that much - possibly a Kylie/Robbie love story .

My DS1 (7yo) went to see "Racing Stripes" last weekend with his friends and the boys loved it.

Went to see Magic Roundabout today with ds1 10 and ds2 7 (oh, and dh!). The kids enjoyed it but dh and I were saddened that it didn't resemble the original tv series as we remember. A sign of how life has changed for kids I suppose but IMO I thought it too scary for younger children, although there were plenty in the cinema. I guess children these days are conditioned (and immune) to all things 'evil' and 'scary' but I'm sill naive enough for it to have slightly shocked me . Time I joined the real world I suppose. Have to say that I was trying to persuade the kids that they really would prefer to see Racing Stripes! Still, I did talk them out of the Sponge Bob movie in favour of The Magic Roundabout so I have only myself to blame !

My 2 five year olds saw Magic Roundabout and enjoyed it although one was pretty scared half way through.
I think of the series as being aimed at 2, 3 and 4 yr olds but the film seems to be aimed at 5, 6 and 7 yr olds.

my ds aged 6 went to see both this half term. I didn't go with him to see either, but he was more scared at Magic Roundabout (he is very easily scared though), but seemed to enjoy that more - he really wants to see it again and has talked about it non-stop.
