First visit to cinema in, literally, years! What should I see?

I've just finished reading Notes On A Scandal and thoroughly enjoyed it. Would really like to see it when we go to the cinema tomorrow. But is, as is normally the case, the book better? If so, I'd feel that my one opportunity to see a film had been wasted. Is it any good or, has anyone seen anything else recently that they would like to reccommend?

Haven't seen Notes on A Scandal, but last weekend we saw The Last King Of Scotland, and really really enjoyed it. So that's what I'd reccomend.

No not very graphic and gory. And I can be very squeamish. It's fantastically well shot, and has a real pace. I'm very hard to please with films usually, but really enjoyed it.

Of the people I know that have read the book "Notes..." they said the film is not as good. I haven't read or seen, so cannot speak personally.

Last King of Scotland, however, is brilliant. There are a couple of "bloody" scenes, but nothing gratuitous IMO. Go see
