I'm an anime fan. You could call me otaku!

I'm currently watching Slam Dunk. Just watched Naruto and Naruto Shippuden up to date from the start.

First anime I watched was Sherlock Hound as an eighties child. Then ghibli (been to the museum in Tokyo twice, no adults allowed on the cat bus unfortunately!)

I stream via anilinkz or whichever website has got what I want. I mostly watch subbed.

I loved shingeki no kyojin/attack on titan and am waiting eagerly for the next season. Silver spoon/gin no saji was fun and poignant.

Other anime I rate are;
Hikaru no go
Hajime no Ippo
FLCL
Hunter x hunter
Soul eater
Yakitate japan

I could go on!
Yep, I really love anime!

Can I join?
I love anime!

I love the life anime, can't remember the actual term. My favourite anime is Fruit Basket. I also liked Chobits, Love Hina and am currently watching Sword Art Online :)

I have just finished watching Avatar: The Last Airbender. It was great GrinGrin

Honeysucklejasmine, I didn't think Avatar, the last airbender was strictly an anime? It's American isn't it?

Hey princessunicorn, the genre u like may be called "slice of life" silver spoon is a good example. it's about farming college and well worth a look.

Just finished watching soul eater not. Was rubbish compared to the original soul eater. Now watching Tokyo ghoul which is gruesome and eccentric family which is very ghibli like.

I'm gonna check out the airbender one. Looks interesting!

Maybe, but it is excellent none the less, and done in anime style. Seriously, its great. I would rate it among the best I've seen.

Started watching Gurren Lagann on recommendation of a friend. Eugh. What a waste of my life.

Just finished watching Eccentric Family. It was very good; charming and whimsical, beautifully illustrated, well paced so didn't drag and set in Kyoto, so many temples and tourist attractions that you can see in real life were featured. Also it's only one season so easy and quick to watch.

I'm about to finish Gatchaman Crowds which has a similar concept as the film Summer Wars. The idea that virtual networking can be a tool for widespread social change. This anime is also only one season.

Oh lovely. Help.

My dd is 11 and her friends watch and talk about this.

Can somebody in a nutshell explain what the hell they are talking about.
are they different films?

I'm not usually a lax parent, I do check but friends have told me its fine for their age group.

I'd love some info though.

Currently finished watching Full Metal Alchemist:Brotherhood with my DS. Now we are going to watch the original FMA as about halfway through the storyline it changes. However- Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop , Inuyasha and FLCL are a few I have really enjoyed. My kids and I loved Avatar the Last Airbender. Was an amazing series.

happysunr1se · 15/05/2015 12:13

Apparently FLCL was a big influence on the avatar one that several people have mentioned. It's messed up though,(in a good way) the giant iron in the sky! Fantastic!

I loved Fma brotherhood. I thought Al and Ed's relationship was really sweet.

Both FMAs are good, but the movie follows on from the first one (not Brotherhood). It's called " The Conquerer of Shambala" Gracie, Eliza and Nina still break my heart, especially during the funeral scene. Sad

Morethan... You mean "anime" as a whole? Its a genre, like comedy. There are lits of different sub genres (e.g. Like there are romcoms, slap stick, satire etc) so it really depends on their tastes as to what they are actually watching.

We've started on The Legend Of Korra which is an Avatar sequel. It's good, but it's no Avatar.

I Googled Oh lovely and Help. Help seems to be about a girl doctor. Couldn't find anything for Oh Lovely but Doraemon. Doraemon Is suitable for children. Dunno about Help. The synopsis on my anime list mentions the doc's A cups so might have subtle teenage references?

Thank you, yes I meant as a whole.
i think they watch cartoons, I must ask her to show me.
It seems like lots of adults like it too.
I haven't led such a sheltered life but until now, had never heard of it before.

Anime is cartoons.
Anime is what Japanese people call any animation/cartoons. Generally outside of Japan "anime" means only Japanese cartoons.

There are as many styles of anime as there are styles of cinema or theatre so all the usual genre like the comedy ones already mentioned but also horror, crime, thriller, fantasy, adult themes etc.

In anime there's also many visual styles; it's not all cute giant eyes and sweatdrops.

There's pretty much an anime for any subject you can think of.

I'm a massive avater fan, for those watching korra, watch season 3, it gets awesome then.
The creators were only allowed to do a couple of episodes, but due to fan pressure it turned into 4 seasons (books). That's why books 3 and 4 were the best. It's a massive shame thier won't be any more at all.

I like yugioh as well but I need something new.

FMA: Brotherhood is my favourite but definitely not one for the younger kids!

Elfin Lied is great but incredibly dark

I hated the main characters stupid floppy jester hat in elfen lied. It was too gory for me and had too much female nudity/sexual content.

I've just seen that my post actually got replies! I was off MN for a while and didn't notice Blush

Hello fellow anime fans :o

DSD has introduced me to Blue Exorcist which I'm enjoying. Also DH and I are slowly watching Moribito which is interesting. Although I rarely have the energy to follow a storyline through a series, my attention span is very short!

So I generally prefer anime films. I'm really excited about the Boy and the Beast, and When Marnie Was There. Although I bet the former won't be in cinemas here

Also has anyone seen the films Paprika, Colorful or Letter to Mamo?

Hi fuzzpig, no I've not seen those. I was looking to get that Blue Exorcist series at some point though.

I finished watching Madoka Magica series which I recommend seeing. It's actually quite dark and not sugar sweet or nice like the cover and trailer on YouTube might suggest.

Currently I'm watching season one which I'm enjoying so far; good if you like cyber punk themes.

I'm going to see The Boy and the Beast with my DSD next week! It's showing as part of the BFI film festival. We are also going to swing by the British Museum as they have a small manga exhibition. SO excited :o

I did try to get tickets for When Marnie Was There but they were sold out.

Kajamite I love Elfen Lied. I've read the manga too. Both of them made me cry at the end. The anime had a happier ending than the manga.

Someone mocked up a trailer for a live action film. It looks I wish it was real.
