I last ate at about 11pm after a night out with DH so a good few hours in as well. I'm excited and nervous for this. I really hope I can manage the 3 days

Please let us know how you get on! I don’t know if I’d have the will power but would love to give it a try !

What is a 3 day water fast? Can you eat anything at all?

Report
Toitoitoi · 24/08/2019 18:16

I am now 48hrs in. I didn't manage it the other day. It is not strictly water. I am having black coffee, green tea. I also had a teaspoon of salt in warm water and mineral water.

Surprisingly easy so far...if a little dull.

Sounds batshit. The first seven pounds are your glycogen stores going, which you will put straight back on. Have fun!

Report
Toitoitoi · 24/08/2019 18:29

No as I have been doing 8 days of 23/1 lowish carb. Not batshit at all. It is not recommended for people with disordered eating but has many health benefits.

2hrs to go.

So far 10lbs off in 2 weeks. With OMAD and this extended fast. Anyone else had similar results. Just 10lb to go.

That's pretty good going. How has it been when you started eating again?

My longest fast has been 42 hours. Not sure I would manage 3 days. Had you done much fasting before?

Report
Toitoitoi · 25/08/2019 22:13

No this was my first extended fast @GodolphianArabian. I found the last 6 hours hard going and I woke up feeling a little sick on the third day with little energy.

I did overeat a bit but not too bad. I think I should have tried to stay low carb but a Magnum had my name on it and a bit of crusty bread with blue cheese!Grin

I will definitely do it again around Christmas time. I will go back to OMAD now and see if I can loose the last 10lbs.

Toitoitoi · 25/08/2019 22:16

I think the key to going so long was doing OMAD first and keeping carbs lowish.

It sounds like you were fat adapted already.

You meal sounds good. I found I got an upset tummy first few times I broke my fast after just 36 hours, did you suffer at all?

Wow the last 10 pounds! Good luck!

Not yet. I feel fine. I was a bit groggy for about an hour. I didn't follow all the bone broth tips etc and just ate what I fancied.
Small glass of coconut water, greek yoghurt with cream, nuts and blueberries/raspberries, blue cheese and french bread, boiled egg, Magnum, a couple squares dark chocolate, chicken leg, couple of quorn nuggets, a tiny bit of veg, couple of teaspoons of peanut butter and a Cornetto! Smile Sounds like a lot but boy did it taste good! Back to smaller portions tomorrow and healthier fayre!

It is not "bat shit" and it is not dangerous. It is how our bodies were designed to work. Only modern day man has food on tap. Our fat is there to be used if we need it. As we all eat 3 meals a day every day, our bodies now have no time or need to use our fat stores. Doing a water fast will address that and get fat burnt.

One thing a lot of people say when you say you are doing a 3, 4 or 5 day water fast is that it can't be good for you and it is going to starve your body. It is actually very good for you and no, your body does not starve.... it simply switches to another fuel source... those pesky fat stores.
