Bleeding 8 weeks after a termination

User1992x · 04/11/2019 18:26

I had a medical termination on 13th September (please no nasty comments, I already feel a huge sense of guilt) and haven't stopped bleeding since.
It's really getting me down now and is just reminding me of why I'm bleeding in the first place.
I went for a check up two weeks after my termination to be told I had loads of tissue left over and was given tablets to take to let the tissue pass.
The next day I was at work and completely soaked through my clothes and was sent home, I passed so many clots and so much blood. I'm panicking in case it's something else.
Has anyone ever been through this and could anyone share their stories?

Thank you xx

You should not still be bleeding. Go back to the doctors you need to be examined. You must feel worn out bleeding for that amount of time. I hope you don’t feel that because you had a termination you should just put up with it.

I thought I'd give it a few more weeks but I know eight weeks is a long time to be bleeding for.
I feel tired all the time and bloated, thank you for your advice ❤️

8 weeks is a long time. I had a termination at the end of June and my bleeding had mostly tailed off and then went straight into a very heavy period. I was checked out at the hospital because the bleeding was so bad. Phone 111 if you're concerned by the volume of blood - I was referred to the hospital because I was soaking a maxi pad every hour.

So sorry to hear you went through that and glad you went to get sorted. I'm not losing that much but I get scared most days if I don't get a lot the same thing will happen to me where I'll risk not wearing a pad and end up soaking my clothes ❤️

I think I'm going to, thank you. Think I'll ring the clinic that I went to and see what they advise ❤️

I rang them and they advised that because my period is due this week it could be that. Just felt like they were fobbing me off, told me to stick with it and give it another week 😭

That's the same response I got when I first spoke to someone about my bleeding at 8ish weeks post termination. If it's a period it should stop quite soon - keep an eye on the volume of blood. How do you feel generally? I was told that if I felt dizzy/feverish I should call back, and it was eventually the volume of blood combined with feeling sick that got me seen.

I don't know if it's a period or not, it's been continuous every day 😣 I just feel drained and horrible, my boyfriend says he doesn't mind with the whole blood thing with sex cause we wear condoms but we tend to do it when I've had nothing then it'll come out of the blue and it's embarrassing. I just lack motivation for anything at the minute xx
