Pelvic pain and can't find strings, advice pls

Hi I had a copper coil fitted about 7 weeks ago. For about 2 to 3 weeks now I've had intermittent pelvic pain, always in exactly the same place, around where I think my right ovary is. The pain is very intense and sharp, I can't talk through it. Lasts for a few minutes then completely disappears. This happens a handful of times a day. I thought I may have a cyst but decided to check my coil threads this morning and I can't find them. Now I'm scared. Had sex on Friday too so also worried I may not be protected. Will try and see GP this week but there's only one that deals with coils and it isn't easy to get an appointment. Any one experienced similar?
