Another try at fitting mirena?

Hi ladies, I was hoping for some advice. I had an attempted mirena insertion a few months ago. It was quite unpleasant: the GP tried for a while, but ultimately couldn't do it as my cervix was apparently spasming and I started to feel quite woozy, so I went home without. They offered me the option of having it done in hospital under ultrasound guidance and maybe sedation, but I haven't taken it up.

I just wondered if anyone else had had a similar experience and had a successful insertion subsequently without the faff of hospital. I wondered if I went to a family planning clinic rather than GP, or at a different point in my cycle (I was due my period the next day), it might be more likely to work. I'm now quite put off going back as I'm a bit nervous after the first experience! Any words of wisdom would be most welcome! Thanks.

My GP failed to put mine in due to my cervix just refusing to allow anything to enter through it and bleeding. I was referred to the hospital and had it done with a local anaesthetic into my cervix.

I was so scared going in because of how awful it had been at the gp and it was over and done in about 2 mins

Thanks Violet, that's very reassuring! I was hoping to avoid the hassle of going to hospital, but it sounds like it was worth it in the long run.
