Experiences of getting pregnant after removal of Mirena.

Wasn't sure whether I should post this here, or in a Conception section but here goes!

I have had my coil removed, and was wondering how long after this other people have got pregnant? The nurse did warn us that if we had had unprotected sex in the previous week that I could be pregnant immediately. But in reality how likely is this?

Thanks!

You should wait for 3 cycles to give the lining of your womb a chance to build up or miscarriage will be more likely. We used withdrawal method for those 3 mths and I got pregnant as soon as we stopped.

I didn't get told to wait for the months. After removal we got pregnant on the 8th cycle. I think that's fairly average regardless of previous contraception, it felt a long time though!

I wasn't told either but I read so many cases on here of women who got pregnant straight away and miscarried so I did some investigating and found out that it takes atleast 3 cycles for the lining of your womb to build up enough to carry a pregnancy to term after removal of the coil.

Thanks for the replies so far! Busy week at work so couldn't get back to the thread til now, apologies.

The nurse who removed the coil was lovely, but she certainly didn't explain anything much about what to expect afterwards. I asked if there was anything I should know and all she says is 'No, good luck trying' !

Feeling a little bit odd today actually, but I think that this is my body getting used to having to provide its own hormones again, now that the mirena isn't there?

Again, grateful for the replies, thankyou.
