Implanon and periods? Can anyone help?

Hi there,

I have had my implant since the end of January and my cycles had been three weeks of nothing, one week of slight spotting in the morning, one week of heavier spotting and then a week of normal period, then three weeks off again.

However, I have now had four weeks of nothing, is this normal? Do things take a while to settle down?

I'm not overly worried, but has anyone ever conceived when they had the implant?

Thanks

Most women with Implanon find that after a few months they don't bleed at all.

However it's a good idea to rule out a pregnancy just to be on the safe side.

Thanks,

It finally turned up, very light so i think things are settling down.

I found Implanon totally messed around with my cycle - spotting almost every day, and hardly any real periods, but enough general blood loss to make me anaemic! I wouldn't worry if it's not bothering you though - it seems like the first six-eight months are a bit up and down (I had mine out at ten though, as the bleeding was beyond a joke).

Just to offer an alternative view on Implanon (have heard so many horror stories!) I had 3 implants consecutively over 8 years and had no periods at all (bliss) nor got pregnant, nor turned into a raving hormonal nutcase.

I'm a fan!

Have had the implant since May this year. Cautiously optimistic as haven't had sign of a period since, and bar a bit of itching on my inner arm in hot weather, no other symptoms. However, my periods hadn't come back after DD and still breastfeeding so this may make a difference.
