Hi everyone.. DD is going to attend piano audition with CYM next week and I just realised the audition involves more than I expected, including scales and sight reading, etc.. it’s more sounds like a mini exam.. does anyone have experience with CYM? Any advice will be helpful! Thanks..

my Dd is there - auditioned last sept. The audition was less formal than it sounds (she was in y4 so probably just as well) - she is woodwind though. I think she was in there about twenty minutes - most of which was working with the head of the Centre on chromatic scales and aural work- though she did play some of her prepared pieces.

Thanks, minisnowball. We have only prepared piece and scales are not quite ready yet. Dd is year 3 and she always have trouble of playing in front of the others. I thought they would take kids at all levels but seems like only advanced kids can get in.

Honestly dd is not very advanced! She hadn’t been playing for that long - and played g3 pieces. They look for potential that they can work with I think. There are children there at many different levels - and dd is very happy there. Good luck!
