Haven't seen a recent thread about this so thought I'd start us off. Just wondering if anybody has a child auditioning this year?
My child is applying and I'm wondering if anybody can recall the typical exercises and steps they do in the audition. A friend of has a DS who auditioned a couple of years ago and can only remember some of the stretched they did, including box splits, 'froggy' (for turnout?) and skips!

Also if anybody knows roughly how long the audition is and what they're looking for. I now they say they don't have a set type, physically, but the two I know of from other dance schools (not a reliable sample number I know Grin) are petite and perfectly proportioned, with good performance skills.

There is a huge amount of information about the Royal Ballet School and the audition process on the 'Doing Dance' section of Balletcoforum.com and there's always several current threads about auditions.

Many parents on there have dc's who have previously auditioned, or are auditioning this year, so will be able to help Smile

Is that where everyone is now Grin There used to be a good bit of dance chat here in recent years.

Thank you though, taxi. I might just have a look.
