My child wants to stop an activity?

Hello, so, my son is 7 and wants to stop street dance and do karate (he does other activities too) and I really don't mind him doing that, but have said that he needs to finish the street dance term and then he may start karate - is that fair? I believe that teaches him about compromise too and I like that, but my mum seems to think it's a little unfair!? What do you think? Thanks!

How long is it til the streetdance term finishes? Do you expect him to keep going, or just not pay for/permit him to start karate til streetdance term is done? How many other activities does he do?

There is 3 more sessions to go to and I ask him, before each term, if he would still like to go, so I have been fair to him. I would like him to still go to them because I have paid for them and I would like him to realise that (he doesn't really have any concept that his clubs cost money). He does swimming, gymnastics and football too, but he has always asked to keep doing these. Oh, he also has drumming lessons

Five activities a week seems a lot, esp at that age. Are you in the UK?

Yeah, I am. Honestly, I wouldn't want to do that many activities! He just really enjoys them and asks to continue

Most of DD's activities require a terms notice if she wants to stop/change she needs to carry on for the terms notice that I have to pay for or pay me from her pocket money. She is as tight as her mother so always attends for the final term.

I would make him finish too. At the very least I wouldn't start the next one until the current classes had finished

I always do the same as you and ask before I pay the bill for a new term if they are sure they want to continue. If they've committed to something and it's paid for then they have to wait until it's finished before switching to something else.
