Extra-curricular activities

Well, I think it's safe to say that DD's stage career won't be off to a flying start...

DD was persuaded by a friend to give the Youth Music Theatre auditions a shot ('It'll be fine, it's more like a workshop really, pleeease come with me!').
Well, she doesn't dance, is far too tall and clumsy for most roles, but she does sing and is very fond of the nervous friend, so they tootled along together.

Five minutes before they went in, she muttered to me that her new brace really hurt, so I hared off to the corner shop, grabbed her some paracetamol and hared back to dose her. Sent them in. Looked at the packet. 'Max Strength With Caffeine'. Uh oh.

3 hours later, hilarious DD emerges, crying with laughter:
'They made us all dance solo even though [friend] said they wouldn't, and I know I can't dance, so I sort of channeled Miranda Hart with a bit of Michael Jackson thrown in . Then [friend] and I sort of, errm, did a swordfight. The other girls asked if it was OK to laugh and then they couldn't stop.'

So, if your DD was next up, we do apologise for scuppering her chances. Kindly blame it on the unaccustomed caffeine...

DD2 is doing one of these auditions next weekend! No mention of dancing solo on the blurb though I suppose it could be inferred from what is there...DD1 is fine at following a routine but a choreographer she 'aint. Ah well. Your DD may have done much better than you suspect - if she was funny that might be a key thing...

She'd better not have got in. Can't afford the 'skills course' let alone the full residential!

Good luck to your DD, who is presumably going to take it a tad more seriously?

Well - she's very keen. But she's at the very youngest age they let them try and I'm assuming she won't get in. :) thanks though.
