Or any other suggestions. Howarths in London apparently have a waiting list to hire - I am in the North of England.

DD is 8 and hands are way too small for a short reach but will probably get a couple of years use max out of it - which is why buying new would be crazy.

If you have one to sell pls PM me!

Thanks

Is this the same as a tenoroon?

Daft Q but have you tried ebay?

Have you tried the local schools music service? Thry might eveb buy one if they see a place for it in their ensembles

Silly question, but you have checked with your local music hub haven't you?? DD1 hires her children's bassoon via our local Music Hub and I know of hubs who have instruments sitting in their cupboards with no-one using them!

They have short reach bassoons without the whisper key / crook lock thingy. Basically needs one of those as her hands aren't big enough - but even so is a bit too heavy.

Nothing on ebay at the moment. Don't know if there are any other used instrument websites - I do keep googling.

Ah yes of course - should have picked up that she was only 8. DD had to wait until 11 to start learning for that very reason. Have you tried calling neighbouring music hubs?

Try here:

Wood Wind and Reed in Cambridge have them listed for hire at £35 a month. It is local to me but I don't use them for instruments as I use someone else so I can't vouch for them.

We have a mini bassoon which my daughter has outgrown - are you still wanting to buy one?

Hire one, they can only use them for so long before progressing .

We got a mini bassoon from Howarth straight away. They had more than one available, but you need to arrange in advance as they are not always serviced and ready to go otherwise. I think this is more likely the reason why they say there is a "waiting list" on their website. Found Howarth very good on advice too :-)
