Line dancing - yay or nay? and any advice?

Hi all
I'm going to my first line-dancing class on Monday. I've been avid gym-goer (I'm too old to be a gym bunny) for many, many years but I'm bored of it now. And my knees tend to grumble a bit.
I'm told to wear gym shoes, which is a bit disappointing actuall,y as I was hoping for a bit of foot stomping.

Do you love it? What do you wear? Is there an average age? Mostly women?

I'm not looking to find a man there, just for a few laughs and some exercise.
