In the gamble Cameron took to scupper the right wing of his party, he has now ensured that our government does in fact move further to the right. Anybody else scared?

I dislike all the candidates for PM. The winner looks likely to be May who is notably right wing and anti-immigration. I can feel us slipping inexorably to the right.

I am scared for our future. I hope the Labour Party sort themselves out because now more than ever the country needs a strong opposition. Even Cameron said so .

anti-immigration in bold not because there has to be limitless immigration, but because having that as a platform IMO says something about the type of person and politician May is.

This was an entirely predictable outcome - and yes, very scary. I went to lots of trade union debates before the referendum, and while the platform always had at least one person making the left anti-EU case (which, in any other political climate, would be rational and cogent, although not one I agree with), the floor was always overwhelmingly in support of remaining - because anything else would give us 10 more years of Tories - and in the aftermath of the Trade Union Act, large strikes to resist the cuts that are coming will be very difficult to organise.

As a poster on a different thread said, we're about to move from Thatcherism to Thatcherism on steroids.

But we were 'talking to ourselves'.

I think that although this is one almighty cock up, Theresa May and Michael Gove are not going to be popular in a GE (think Gordon Brown). The Tories only managed a small majority last time - if they go further to the right they will lose support. Perhaps another coalition is on the cards.

As long as it's not a coalition with Aaron banks' new party - that's the risk - especially if the EU 'deal' - whatever emerges - can be exploited by those even 'righter' than May for failing to meet peoples' expectations on immigration.

Labour hasn't represented the working classes for a long time so they're not going anywhere. May is the best for the job.
