No votes for over 60's - that won't get passed by the EU!

There have been several comments over the last 24/48 hrs about how the over 60's should not be allowed to vote in the referendum and that they have cocked up the next generations future for our country. That is disrespectful and shameful whichever side of the fence you are on and on any other topic would be pulled. So when I was flicking through the newspaper this morning I came across these photos. Now I am not very good at judging people's ages but it looks to me like they definitely fit the 60+ age bracket and these are the people that reside over /decide the rules and futures of 27 countries ......the irony!!

Spot on. Personally I would raise the age to vote to 25 - 18 year olds know diddlly squat about anything.

So what about 19-24 year olds? Hmm

I know many people aged 23/24 who are married and have families, do they not deserve a vote because they know 'diddly squat'?

The remain crew are being sore losers and assuming they know better than the 51%

Quite right MrsFancyFanjango

I was a bit miffed at the idea of over 60s, who have a lifetime of experience, not being able to vote, and my suggestion wasn't really serious.

However, interesting to see you made no comment re the idea of over 60s not being able to vote but rushed to the defense of 19-24s.

Someone of 60-65 could live for another 30 years. In any case, I agree that an upper age limit would be beyond the pale.

I've just said on another thread that the blatant ageism showing its face right now is ugly.

I agree it would never happen though!

As a punishment for anyone prejudiced enough to suggest such a thing, I propose they are interviewed about their opinion on national TV by Andrew Neil (67). That would be enjoyable telly Grin

I thought MNHQ deleted ageist threads?

Only 40% of 18-24 year olds who were registered to vote actually bothered turning out so the 75% or whatever who voted to remain is not that big in terms of bums on seats...

The over 60s have contributed more to this country than most of us.
Sad thing is 60 isn't that "old" these days. Were expected to work until nearly 70 - imagine paying taxes into a system you have no say in.
I've read souch hot headed site and nastiness the past 2 days nothing short ks me in fact some things are so ridiculous I'm beginning to see the funny side.
