Yes!

Jeremy Corbyn must be really regretting not standing up to the champagne socialists now.

Not sure how I feel about that.

must be another right wing little Englander support Brexit!! the left particularly Labour traditionally opposed the EU & given the working class have suffered the most under the EU it is no surprise MP's like Dennis Skinner has backed Brexit. It is just a shame Corbyn didn't have to courage to do it when he is still making scathing speeches against the EU & has been eurosceptic for over 40 years

I do not believe the working class have suffered most in the EU. I am grateful for the legal rights and equality the tories will sweep away at the first opportunity. The working classes will suffer most when regional development money disappears, and when cars become too expensive to export.

situatedknowledge all the worker & women rights remain keep talking about were in UK law before we joined the EU e.g. equal pay was 1970, trade unions in the 19th century, race discrimination act 1965, holiday pay 1938 & also UK maternity pay is longer & better paid than EU law & UK holiday time is longer than EU law.

Frank Field, Dennis Skinner, John Mann wouldn't agree with you. And they all represent working class communities.

They probably also think that Labour can get in again. Tories don't stay in power forever you know. It's a democracy, not the EU.

Ironically, this referendum may help labour a bit because a lot of young people and people in rental accommodation were missing from the electoral register.

But they still have the challenge of finding another source for the £7million of political funding they stand to lose thanks to the changes brought in by the trade union act.

Figmentofmyimagination · 10/06/2016 09:26

I suspect that if labour had a leader capable of being elected pm, this referendum wouldn't be happening - or at least not in this way. It's interesting how, once the political balance of power is destabilised, the other side starts to behave as if it has licence to tear itself apart.

That's one of the best sentences I've seen on the EU debate! Smile

Watching the Tories at the moment is like watching a car crash in slow motion....how will they all unite after this ? I don't think they can.

Mr Skinner told the Morning Star "My opposition from the very beginning has been on the lines that fighting capitalism state-by-state is hard enough. It's even harder when you're fighting it on the basis of eight states, 10 states and now 28.

"What [the EU] should be doing, if it wanted to convince people like me, is have a directive to get rid of zero-hours contracts across the whole of the EU. That's what I'd be looking for."

This is not true here is a great blog post explaining how and why.

Can anyone see any coverage of Dennis Skinner's defection in the Guardian? I can see nothing at all.

And on the BBC, there's just a line buried in the piece about John Mann, which is already a small article.

It's one of those weird Remain cover-ups like the "rape game" sex attacks.

Unless I've just overlooked in the Guardian??

I just rang my very ancient father to ask if he had heard about Dennis Skinner. He had not and he was very interested. Obviously he doesn't see social media so if it is not on the BBC news he does not know about it.

I've never gone in for conspiracies. But I am really shocked about this.

I must say that I am very disapointed in Corbyn. I really liked him and was considering voting Labour in the next election if he was the leader. He was clear and held views and stuck to them. Until the EU referendum, where he is denying what he believes (-and then keeping very very quiet). Why can't the Labour Party not take a position and their MPs be free to campaign whichever way they believe is best. Corbyn has thrown away his integrity.

Report
Millyonthefloss · 10/06/2016 22:43

Yes. Corbyn is in such an odd position as it is. Doing nothing for either side. Makes him look sulky.

It is revealed today Kinnock has made £10,000,000 from the EU in 4 years...... I'm disgusted. No wonder Labour MPs are detached from their voters...... Except for Dennis!

You'll be equally outraged by this then, what with Nigel being man of the people.

Corbyn has been campaigning. At the end of the day the Brexit shitstorm is the making of the hard right. This is a Tory mess to sort out.

no the brexit shit storm that has hit impoverished community in labours heart land was caused by blair by and large by lifting working rights, having said that, we would have still had millions coming here but obv in less huge numbers with immediate effect. the very people whom labour has now all but deserted,.
